History

According to tradition, Casa Don Sancho was inhabited by Don Sancho Jimeno de Orozco, Spanish nobleman and governor of Cartagena de Indias between 1693 and 1695.

Later, he became Lord of the Castle of San Luis on the Island of Tierra Bomba, bravely defending this fortress during the French assault on Cartagena in 1697. His legacy to Cartagena is reflected in a street named after him within the walled city. Today, our historic and colonial Hotel Casa Don Sancho is located in this privileged site.
